Presenters Needed for Career Day at Lemon Road Elementary School (08 Jun 2012)

BWS SWE memebers have been invitated to present at this year’s Career Day program. This event will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 from 9:00-2:00 p.m. at Lemon Road Elementary School. Throughout the day, students will experience various careers, occupations, and business opportunities.

Presenters are asked to share various aspects about their career during four 20 minute presentations in the morning from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and/or four 20-minute presentations in the afternoon from 12:00-2:00 p.m. The audience will consist of children from grades Kindergarten through sixth, divided by grade levels clustered in their respective classes. Presenters are encouraged to bring any equipment or supplies that would be beneficial. We do have some A/V and multi-media equipment that can be used to resource the presentation, and will accommodate space needs as necessary.

Lunch will be provided at 11:00 with sensitivity to various dietary concerns.

What: The Music Man Musical at the Arena Stage

When: Saturday, June 9, 2012

Where:1101 Sixth Street, SW, Washington, DC 20024 which is conveniently located near the Waterfront-SEU metro station on the Green Line

Time: Show begins at 2:00 p.m. The show is approximately 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission.

About the show: Artistic Director Molly Smith tackles five-time Tony Award winner The Music Man. Having exhausted all 102 counties in Illinois, “Professor” Harold Hill gives Iowa a try and soon enough convinces River City of its trouble with the “sin and corruption” of the pool hall, trouble that can only be stopped by forming a boys’ band. Marian the librarian suspects he’s a con man, but she begins to trust him after seeing how he’s given confidence to her shy younger brother. Soon, this “Music Man” has transformed the entire town, not only turning the bickering school board into a barbershop quartet, but himself into an honest man. When the stage erupts with “76 Trombones,” you’ll be cheering along with River City for Harold Hill!

Ticket cost includes a 30% group dicount rate. Registration is limited to 25 people.

Registrations are due by May 11, 2012, so don't wait and sign-up now!

Family members and friends are welcome! Sorry, but no children under the age of 5 are permitted in the theater.
