Be part of the fun and volunteer for a fun day at the National Building Museum during Engineers Week!! SWE BWS participates in this event annually in collaboration with Northrop Grumman. We make slime with the kids and challenge them to make a bridge that is only made with five sheets of paper and some glue hold upwards of $10 in pennies.

What is Family Day @ National Building Museum?
The annual Washington DC Engineering Family Day is enjoyed by over six thousand visitors to the National Building Museum every February.  The festival features dozens of hands-on  activities provided by local engineering chapters and national organizations.  Every year at the start of Engineer's Week, the impressive main hall of the National Building Museum is taken over by thousands of children of all ages experiencing the excitement of engineering, not to mention slime.

The National Building Museum and the National Engineers Week Foundation invite you to debunk the myths of engineering and discover how professional engineers turn an idea into reality.  Celebrate National Engineers Week by participating in this free, hands-on and fun-filled festival!

Discover Engineering Family Day is a FREE, drop-in program. Program and activities are most appropriate for children ages 5 to 13 with adult supervision. Registration is not required.

This is such an enjoyable event and Northrop Grumman provides breakfast (donuts), lunch (pizza) and drinks throughout the day for volunteers.

Please Volunteer! It's a great time. Last year over 8000 children came through!!!
