Have you been looking for a way to get involved with the Society of Women Engineers? SWE is a great way to make friends in the area, to network with other professionals and to give back to the community. The Baltimore-Washington Section (BWS) SWE is holding their yearly planning retreat on Saturday, August 21st in Annapolis, MD. The purpose of the planning retreat is to introduce all the officers and committee chairs to one another and to put together a tentative calendar of events. At the yearly planning retreat, ers). We have the following committees open. These positions require 1-8 hours of time per month, depending on the position and time of year:

1.    Newsletter Editor - The Baltimore Washington Section publishes a newsletter to its members (professional and corporate) three times a year (Spring, Fall and Winter), from September through June.  The newsletter provides Section members with announcements regarding upcoming meetings, events and activities.  Information regarding Region E and National activities and events is also published.

2.    Corporate Relations
- The Baltimore-Washington Section continually works to establish and maintain partnerships with local corporations.  Support by local corporations allows our Section to provide mentoring and guidance to young women as well as our student and professional members.  This support is not only financial, but in-kind support.

3.    Community Outreach
- The Baltimore-Washington Section's community relations program fosters networking with women engineering professionals in an informal and relaxed setting. Specific activities include PBS pledge drives, Toys for Tots campaign, canned goods drive, women’s shelter collection, etc.  Collection drop off points should be available at Section meetings and activities.  Whenever possible, activities should be scheduled in both Maryland and Virginia.  A minimum of three community outreach activities should be planned.

4.    Website -
The Baltimore Washington Section maintains a website.  The address is www.swe-bws.org and www.baltwashswe.org   The purpose of the website is to provide Section members with announcements regarding upcoming meetings, events and activities.  It also provides non-members with information regarding the goals of the Section, our organizational structure, points of contact, and membership.  Information regarding National and Regional activities as well as the activities of related societies in the Baltimore Washington area is also posted.

Please  join us for this fun yearly event! If you have specific questions, email our leadership team at Leadership@swe-bws.org. Do you want to attend?
