FY10 Goals

At the annual SWE-BWS retreat, held August 16th, the executive council established a list of goals to guide our planning of activities and programs for the FY10 fiscal year.  The goals established for FY10 are:


  1. Track metrics on membership meeting attendees: Name, Work Location, Home Location, “How did you hear about us?”, “how long did it take to get to the meeting?”
  2. Track the number of children reached at Outreach events and the number of organizations
  3. Increase scholarship funding level to $10,000
  4. Hold 3 joint events with other technical societies
  5. Coordinate an event with 2-3 of the collegiate SWE sections in our area
  6. Establish solid contact with all 10 collegiate sections and ensure they are all in good standing
  7. Plan one event to include multiple collegiate SWE sections and corporations
  8. Participate in at least 2 community (non-engineering) activities or event
  9. Hold 2 networking events in surrounding/more remote areas of section
  10. Attend and judge at least 7 science fairs
  11. Coordinate and organize Girl Scout Outreach Events and reach at least 7 troops
  12. Advertise family friendly events in SWE-BWS publications
  13. Attend 10 STEM outreach events (K-12)
  14. Have at least 6 SWE-BWS events sponsored or hosted by local companies
  15. Establish new a relationship with at least one local company
  16. Achieve 25% transition of eligible collegiate members in our area to professional SWE membership
  17. Hold 4 membership events targeted at increasing participation by new and existing members
  18. Hold 2 events targeted at improving SWE leadership pipeline and succession planning
  19. Create an investment strategy
  20. Hold 2 fund-raising events
