Come represent BWS-SWE and help serve meals to hungry guests at Loaves and Fishes. Eight (8) of us will help to provide a nourishing, hot lunch on this Sunday afternoon, while getting to know each other.

    About Loaves and Fishes:

Loaves and Fishes began as an outgrowth of St. Stephen and the Incarnation Episcopal Church’s practice in the mid-1960s of providing meals after Sunday services. Their goal is to feed the hungry in our community and to educate volunteers and community members about hunger and homelessness. "We are proud to serve a warm, healthy lunch to all who come to us without regard to their age, race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religious affiliation, or lack of it."

    Directions / Parking:

Loaves and Fishes is located at 1525 Newton Street NW, on the northeast corner of 16th and Newton Streets NW, in St. Stephen and the Incarnation church. The closest metro is Columbia Heights. You will come through the parking lot and around the back of the church; the first door is the kitchen. Please ask for Denize, our program manager.

The projects highlight the Engineering Design Process and invite girls to brainstorm, design, build, test, and re-design. This experience gives girls a flexible, practical approach to problem solving that they can apply to a wide range of subjects. The student will also interact with STEM role model volunteers and explore careers to become inspired.
