    2016 Region E Mid-Atlantic Conference

This year’s Mid-Atlantic regional conference will be co-hosted in Newport News, Virginia by the professional Hampton Roads SWE and collegiate Old Dominion University SWE sections.

"As the Hampton Roads is known throughout Virginia for its coastal environment, we elected this year’s conference theme to be “Under the SWE.”  We feel that this theme highlights our extraordinary maritime location which fosters exceptional opportunities including, but certainly not limited to, development in the shipbuilding, military and aerospace industries.  The main goal of the conference is to connect approximately three hundred women engineers from sixty universities and thirteen professional SWE sections that attend each year with the expansive corporate and academic engineering communities within our region.  Through our career fair, professional workshops, and corporate events, we provide an ideal opportunity for recruiting and networking. The area is home to many innovative technological and engineering companies, an international port, as well as nationally-ranked destinations such as colonial Williamsburg, Jamestown, and the Virginia Beach boardwalk.  We believe this wealth of resources and unique attractions is the perfect foundation for an incredibly successful conference."
