The membership year is July 1-June 30. Categories of membership are:
Collegiate
More than 300 collegiate sections are active on universities across the U.S (see Regional Map, then click your region for the list of college sections in that region). If one is not available on your campus, check the list of SWE collegiate sections for one close to you. Individual membership is only $20 annually, and a few colleges pay some or all of the dues. No application fee is required. Join now!
Professional
Several types of professional memberships are tailored to members’ needs at different stages of their engineering careers.
• Recent Graduate: Upon graduation, Collegiate Membership can be converted to a Professional Membership at a reduced annual rate of $20 the first year and $50 the second year as long as you convert with no break in membership. If you wait to join as a Professional, you pay a $20 one-time application fee and receive the reduced $50 membership fee during the first year after graduation.
• Professional: More than 100 professional sections in the U.S. are available for women engineers. If no section is located nearby, you can join as a Member-at-Large. Professional membership is $100 annually.
• Joint: Take advantage of the joint membership rate of $130 annually when you join both SWE and one of these two professional organizations: National Society of Black Engineers and the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers.
• Lifetime (Member Log-in will be required when you click): A lifetime membership is available for a lump sum payment of $2,000.
• Retired: The professional membership fee is reduced to $50 annually for retired Professional Members. Send an e-mail to Membership Services at hq@swe.org to request a change in status.
• Associate: Membership is available at $100 annually for women who do not qualify under one of the Professional Member grades, but whose work is related to the practice or training of engineering. Send an e-mail to Membership Services at hq@swe.org for additional information.
• Affiliate: Membership is available at $100 annually for women who do not qualify for any other membership grade, but must be sponsored by a Professional Member. Your sponsor will submit an application request for you.
Corporate
Corporate Memberships are available for companies, who employ several women engineers and wish to have multiple members of SWE representing the company.
